This canvas painting was created by painting the background first, then days later when dry I added a butterfly outline so that I could paint the outer sky edge, and the swirly golden trim line. A few days later I was able to add more details to the butterfly body and wings. A few more days passed and I added a gloss varnish to really bring out the detailed patterns.
