When it gets nearer to Christmas I am busy with commissions. This lovely dog is called Bella and is a joy to paint. Here are the first layers of paint going on. With commissions I draw and sketch first then paint the eyes. If the eyes don’t look right then the entire painting won’t be right, so if I was to paint them last (after a week of painting) then I’d be distraught if it was all for nothing. So once the eyes are correct I continue with the rest of the painting.
