This is a cropped view of a painting that I have just completed called Deer Night Dreamer by Artist Sophie H. Afterwards I tried a new gloss finish which worked out very well. Usually watercolours have a matt finish when painted. The high gloss coating provides a permanent protective shield against abrasion and moisture, and is resistant to yellowing on exposure to sunlight. I wasn’t so much the protective aspects that were the reason, more of a bonus side affect, the main reason for adding this was to give a glossy look to this painting. Although it would be behind glass in a frame, it gave it that extra shiny boost and luxurious feel.
