Cool to be Square a portrait inspired by Stephen Fry. I have recently painted two portraits inspired from Stephen Fry. One is in a contemporary realistic style and this one is a looser style. This painting started off A3 size with a head and shoulders composition but the face cropped closely made a better statement for the narrative that this guy is pretty darn cool. Cropping it into a square adds to that narrative. Years ago it was often a name calling that intelligent people faced was being called ‘square’.
